nDusty and Kim Poulson home, 5039 E. 2725 North, Eden Wind generator that is "grid-tied"; supplements home power, large PV solar array |
| System description: This 900-watt H80 wind generator is in the midst of Dusty's back pasture. It supplements power to his home, and is grid-tied, meaning that the house relies on utility power when the sun isn't shining. Dusty has just added a PV power system, made up of eight 150-watt panels. The high tech power system also stores energy in a battery bank, so that when the power goes out, Dusty has no idea until his neighbors tell him. He uses a Trace power panel that makes the transition from utility power to wind-mill power so quickly that the alarm clocks don't blink. Because he's the owner of Grass Plus and a landscape specialist, you might want to look at the gardens too. | |
